Pressed was an EmKo first – the original greeting card collection to be designed in house. These simple squares, featuring both bold and intricate shapes, bring a little something special to the writing table. The bright and colourful designs for this collection were handed over to the wonderful team at Magpie Press, professionals in the art of lovingly producing the very best letterpress printing in New Zealand.
The craft of the letter press is truly a labour of love; the time-consuming process, done largely by hand, covers everything from forming the photo-polymer plates for printing, weighing and mixing ink, printing the design and cleaning the press. Down at Magpie Press HQ, the production of these gloriously elegant and long-lasting pieces takes place to the backdrop of the whirs and whooshes of Hildegarde, the resident (and rather weighty) Heidelberg Windmill Press. She’s solely responsible for the printing, perforation and die-cutting of Pressed’s cheerful designs, and a key member of the Magpie team.
