Created from multiple stages of broad research, careful planning and meticulous refinement, Ingrid Boot’s art is as sophisticated as it is detailed. Born in the UK, Ingrid studied Art at Westminster University in London, later completing an Illustration degree at De Montfort. Having moved to New Zealand in 2000, Ingrid’s work is now displayed both here and in private collections across the world.
Inspired by her love of fashion history, old movies and icons of a bygone era, Ingrid’s art displays a sense of timeless elegance, with her paintings predominantly depicting the beauty of the female form. The creative process is far from simple; her elongated characters are created and set using sketches, photographic compositions and painstakingly researched details. Every stitch, button and tiny prop are perfectly formed and accurately painted, while simultaneously playing tricks with proportion and scale.
The consequent result of combining Ingrid’s creative eye and classical training is art carrying unparalleled glamour and elegance. Her iconic Little Ladies display the very height of fashion and style, while her monochrome Clusters still share the precision and attention to detail which characterise these timeless greeting cards.
